Academic HR Analyst - Santa Cruz, CA

Applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.

Under general direction, the incumbent will work as a member of the division's Academic Personnel and Payroll Team. In addition to policy interpretation and implementation, the unit processes all recruitments, appointments, advancements, leaves, visa applications, payroll, and time and attendance activities for the division and assigned colleges. The incumbent will serve as one of three payroll prepares in the division. In addition to the assigned payroll duties, the incumbent will support the Assistant Dean with all personnel action related to senate and temporary faculty. The Academic Personnel and Payroll Team serves nine academic departments/programs, two colleges, and a number of research centers and activities.

Qualifications / Competencies

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Basic knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.

Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems.

Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications / Competencies

Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies.

Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.

Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs/unit management.
