Human Resource Specialist - Los Angeles World Airport - Los Angeles, CA



POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resource Specialist will support the administrative function of our Los Angeles World Airport location. This position will support the human resources functions including basic administrative duties, recruitment, onboarding, benefit and worker's compensation administration and employee relations. In addition, this position will assist with the administration of special projects, company-directed learning and development initiatives as well as employee recognition and engagement events.

Key Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for pre-employment processing. Arranges drug testing and conducts background investigations. 2. Responsible for new employee processing. Coordinates employee uniforms, prepares offer letters, prepares employee files, and prepares new hire paperwork as well as any changes to employee information via SAP. 3. Assists with new employee on-boarding as needed. 4. Coordinates with the HR Manager for Airport Badges and U.S. Customs Seals Programs in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. 5. Maintains log and processes payments for employee referral rewards. 6. Assists with employee benefits programs including new employee health benefits orientation and enrollment, annual open enrollment, 401(k) retirement plan, and retiree program. 7. Processes LOA (Leave of Absence) requests. 8. Processes worker’s compensation claims for work injuries, customer liability claims, and company vehicle accidents. Maintains claim files and coordinates investigations. 9. Supports and backs-up the Human Resource manager as needed.

Key Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum two years of human resources experience, or equivalent administrative experience preferred 2. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 3. Ability to communicate and relate with all levels of employees. 4. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload. 5. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues. 6. Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications. 7. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision 8. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
