PLANNER V (SR-24)
Performs responsible professional planning work in the development, analysis and completion of planning projects; and performs other related duties as required.
Current vacancy: Under the direction of the Branch Chief of the Development Coordination and Fair Housing Branch, independently involved in the planning, managing, and implementation of the City's Special Needs Housing Program and the analysis and implementation of federal grants, including but not limited to, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnership grants.
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.
Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.

Four years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research, two of which shall have been in city planning or related planning activities.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, purposes, scope and techniques of the various phases of city planning; trends in Federal, State and local planning as they affect city planning; research methodology and statistical procedures; sources and uses of socio-economic information; and State and local laws and ordinances related to city planning.
A Master's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university may be substituted for two years of architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research experience.
